4a manufacturing develops and produces MILLIFOAM® thin-core foam, CIMERA® microsandwich composites, and CIMERA® Radome structures - material solutions for lightweight design, acoustic engineering, and radar-transparent structures.
Founded in 2005 in Traboch, Austria. More than 20 years of production experience. Supplying manufacturers across consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, and telecommunications worldwide.
Our Products
Three product families. Each engineered for a specific set of physical constraints.
Thin hard foam sheets from 0.10 mm. Produced from commercial polymer blocks using a proprietary cutting process – no grinding, no dust, tight tolerances. Available in PMI, PET, PVC, PESU, PPSU and other grades.
Microsandwich composites combining a MILLIFOAM® core with metal, polymer, or fiber skin layers. Up to 76% weight reduction compared to aluminum at equivalent bending stiffness. Used in acoustic membranes, structural panels, and radar-transparent structures.
Sandwich radome structures engineered for defined electromagnetic and mechanical performance at mmWave frequencies. Full in-house capability from simulation and design through prototype and serial production.
Applications
MILLIFOAM® and CIMERA® are used wherever thin, stiff, and lightweight material construction is the engineering constraint.
Acoustics
Microsandwich membranes for smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Higher break-up frequency, lower moving mass, tighter tolerances. In production since 2005.
Lightweight Structures
Structural panels for aerospace, automotive, and temperature-controlled transport. Up to 60% weight reduction vs. monolithic CFRP at equivalent bending stiffness.
Low Loss Radome Structures
Low-loss radome panels for radar, 5G infrastructure, aerospace, SATCOM and applications. Defined transmission performance across wide incidence angle ranges.

About 4a manufacturing
4a manufacturing GmbH is part of the 4a group and is the world leader in the production of “micro-sandwich” materials for the consumer electronic market since more than 10 years. This technology enables innovative lightweight designs for panel or shell constructions, by substituting monolithic materials like metals or fiber composites with thin sandwich materials. Based on the flexible material composition, it’s possible to use CIMERA® for many other specific application fields like automotive, rail, aviation etc. Major part for the creation of an innovative sandwich material is the selection of the right core material. 4a manufacturing developed a ground-breaking technology for the production of thin hard foam sheets, called MILLIFOAM®, out of commercial available foam materials.
